Spring season is here!
As the world moves towards post-covid time, we here at Elisa Esports are also looking towards new ways of bringing you exciting content and tournaments. We are all eager to see our beloved players competing in live tournaments and as the year progresses, we are starting to prepare our own LAN events in the near future.
Regionals is now Contenders
As we have developed our product, we have noticed that our previous name for the tournament, “Regionals”, isn’t as descriptive as we would want it to be. We feel that Contenders gives a better picture of our competing teams that are rising through the ranks of numerous CS:GO teams. We want to position ourselves as a tournament organizer that offers a clear path towards the top of the ranks.

Restructuring the prize pool distribution
Another thing we want to address is our prize pool distribution. Currently our tournament circuit has revolved around online-events due to current pandemic. As we move closer towards more open world, we have started to prepare ourselves for bigger LAN events. We want our online tournaments to work as a road towards the end of the year, where we can gather together in person to celebrate high level Counter-Strike.
For this we have done the following changes to our prize pools:
- Elisa Invitational Spring 2022 – $50,000 + Invite to 2022 Finals
- Elisa Invitational Fall 2022 – $50,000 + Invite to 2022 Finals

Elisa Esports ilmoitti aiemmin, että Elisa Invitational Winter 2021 -turnauksen loppuottelut pelataan LanTrek 2022 -tapahtumassa Tampereen Messu- ja Urheilukeskuksessa maaliskuun alussa. Valitettavasti jouduimme tekemään vaikean, mutta huolellisesti harkitun päätöksen; Loppuottelut siirretään verkkoon.
Toivoimme saavamme pelaajat liveyleisön eteen pitkän tauon jälkeen, mutta koronan uusien varianttien vuoksi ei ole vastuullista tuoda kansainvälisiä joukkueita yleisötäytteiseen tapahtumaan kesken kiireisen turnauskauden. Päätöstä tukee karanteeneihin ja matkustusrajoituksiin liittyvä epävarmuus.
Meille tärkeintä on Elisa Esports -tiimin, joukkueiden ja katsojien turvallisuuden takaaminen.
Tästä vaikeasta päätöksestä huolimatta tuomme verkkoon maailmanluokan turnauksen upeilla huippujoukkueilla! Aikaisemmissa Elisa Invitational -loppuotteluissa on nähty maailman kovimpia joukkueita, kuten ENCE, Fnatic, FURIA, Dignitas ja Heroic.

Elisa Esports announced earlier that the Elisa Invitational Winter 2021 Playoffs would be played at the LanTrek 2022 event at Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre in early March. Unfortunately, we had to make a difficult but carefully considered decision; The Playoffs will be moved online.
We were hoping to get the players in front of the live audience after a long break, but due to the new variants of COVID-19, it is not responsible to bring international teams abroad during a busy tournament season. The decision is supported by the uncertainty surrounding quarantines and travel restrictions.
The most important thing for us is to guarantee the safety of the Elisa Esports crew, teams and spectators.
Despite this hard decision, we will bring a world-class tournament with amazing top teams online! Previous Elisa Invitational Playoffs have seen some of the world’s toughest teams, such as ENCE, Fnatic, FURIA, Dignitas and Heroic.
Any possible changes to the tournament will be announced in the coming weeks.
Uusi suomalainen CS-liiga alkaa!
Elisa Open Suomi alkaa lauantaina 22.1. ja 10 000 euron palkintopotin liigan finaali pelataan sunnuntaina 27.2. Molemmille finalisteille on luvassa paikka 100 000 dollarin Elisa Invitational Spring 2022 Regional Swiss -kaudelle.

Elisa Open on uusi Elisa Esportsin maakohtainen liigakonsepti, jossa paikalliset joukkueet kilpailevat yleisön suosiosta sekä paikoista kohti kansainvälisiä pelikenttiä. Liigan finalisteille on rahapalkinnon lisäksi luvassa paikka Elisa Esportsin kansainvälisessä turnaussarjassa.
Elisa Esports tekee paluun luomaan rakennetta suomalaisen e-urheilukentän tukemiseksi. Elisa Open Suomi tarjoaa suomalaisille CS:GO -joukkueille ja pelaajille rakenteellisen liigan, josta on suora tie kansainvälisiin turnauksiin. Elisa Esportsin ensi vuoden tavoite on uudelleenrakentaa Suomeen kilpailullisesti kovatasoinen sarja ja tarjota pelaajille kehityspolku kohti unelmia.
”Kotimainen kilpapelaamisen kenttä on aina ollut Elisalle tärkeä ja haluammekin rakentaa Suomeen sellaisen sarjan, joka tukee organisaatioita ja joukkueita pienistä suuriin. Tahdomme tarjota yhteisölle aidosti arvokasta urheilua, jonka parissa voi viihtyä hurraten omaa suosikkipelaajaa tai -joukkuetta kohti mestaruutta”, kommentoi Elisa Esportsin toiminnasta vastaava Teemu Koski.
Elisa Open Suomi tulee tarjoamaan vähintään kuusi ottelua viikossa suomalaisille CS:GO-faneille. Liigan aikana Elisa Esports tulee kertomaan entistä yksityiskohtaisemmin pelaajien tuntemuksia ja joukkueiden tarinoita. Elisa Esports pyrkii kehittämään lähetyksiään tuomalla niihin uudenlaisia teknisiä ratkaisuja parantaakseen katsojakokemusta. Kaikki Elisa Open Suomi -ottelut tullaan näkemään Elisa Viihde Sportin Twitch-kanavalla.
Liigassa pelaa kahdeksan suomalaista joukkuetta. Nämä joukkueet koostuvat neljästä kovatasoisimmasta ja kiinnostavimmasta kutsujoukkueesta, sekä neljästä karsintavoittajasta. Turnauksen avoimet karsinnat pelataan 15. – 16.1. Esportal-pelialustalla. (Linkit karsintoihin lisätietoa -osion alla)
Elisa Open Suomi tullaan pelaamaan kokonaisuudessaan 22.1. – 27.2. Pelipäivät ajoittuvat viikonlopuille, ja liigan pudotuspelivaihe pelataan 25. – 27.2. Elisa Openissa kaikki joukkueet kohtaavat toisensa kerran Best-of-2 -ottelusarjassa, jonka perusteella pudotuspeleihin pääsee kuusi eniten pisteitä kerännyttä joukkuetta.

Elisa Invitational Winter 2021 Regional Swiss starts on next Monday November 15th. From 16 Regional Swiss teams only top 8 will continue to the Main Swiss stage.

After Open and Closed Qualification matches, we’ve now all the Regional Swiss teams ready to roll on next Monday.
From these 16 teams the top 8 will advance to the next phase of the tournament, Main Swiss, where the invite teams are already waiting. From Main Swiss the new top 8 will get into Elisa Invitational Winter 2021 Playoffs which is played in Lantrek on March 3rd to 6th.

Elisa Invitational CS:GO tournament series will continue with the Winter edition! Elisa Invitational Winter 2021 will be played between qualified teams from the Nordic region and some of the most prestigious teams in the world. The tournament starts in November and the Champion will be crowned in March, when we host the playoffs at the LanTrek 2022 -event! Elisa Invitational Winter 2021 will be handing out a total Prize Pool of $100,000 and the last remaining spots to the Masters tournament hosted by Elisa Esports.
The next Elisa Invitational will be organized from the 15th of November to the 5th of March 2022. This event will follow the Regional and Main Swiss Stages played throughout November, December, January, and February. The Swiss Stages will qualify 8 teams to the Elisa Invitational Winter Playoffs, where 4 other teams will receive direct invites. Invited teams will be announced closer to the Playoffs.
Teams will be competing for a total Prize Pool of $100,000 and the last remaining spots to the Masters tournament hosted by Elisa Esports. The winner of Elisa Invitational Winter 2021 will take a lion’s share of $50,000!

- November 15th – December 9th
- Every week from Monday to Thursday at 3 pm and 6 pm CET
- Swiss Group (Best-of-3) with 11 Invite teams and 5 teams from the Nordic Regional Qualifiers.
- The top 8 teams will advance to Stage 3, Main Swiss
- Stage 3 – Main Swiss
- January 17th – February 10th
- Every week from Monday to Thursday at 3 pm and 6 pm CET
- Swiss Group (Best-of-3) with 8 Invite teams and 8 teams from the Regional Swiss
- Top 8 teams will secure spots in Stage 4, the Playoffs
- Stage 4 – Playoffs (Online stage)
- February 12th – 13th
- 8 teams in the Opening Matches from Main Swiss
- Winners qualify to Stage 5, the LAN stage of playoffs
- Stage 5 – Playoffs (LAN stage)
- March 3rd – 5th Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre in Tampere, Southern Finland
- Playoffs will be played at the LanTrek event between 4 World-Class Invite teams and 4 Winner teams from the Online stage
- 2 groups consisting of 4 teams (Double-Elimination Bracket)
Both groups include: - 2 Opening Matches (BO1)
- Winners Match (BO1)
- Losers Match (BO3)
- Decider Match (BO3)
- 2 Semi-Finals (BO3) and the Grand Final (BO3)
- Stage 2 – Regional Swiss
